Took my cat in for his (and my) first emergency vet visit and had exceptional care from the VEG Williamsburg staff. Dr. Malaguti was efficient and thoughtful and while it turned out not to be a serious health crisis, my cat needed to be seen and the team recommended reasonable intervention throughout the diagnostic process. The office is also spacious and setup for multiple pets to be seen at the same time while minimizing chaos and trauma. While I hope not to need their support often will be back if I need an emergency visit again.

I had adopted a 8 week old Kitten, whom I named Supreme High Chancellor Duke (Duke for short) 5 days ago. He arrived seemingly healthy and energetic from some dude from the Bronx that listed kittens in Craigslist. Upon the first day, Duke’s stool was watery and light-brown colored. Barely ate food/scant water intake. Being a new owner, if I had known this, I would’ve taken him to the vet immediately however the seller claimed he was “dewormed and had a vet conduct a health check.” Being naive, I believed him. The kitten seemed very healthy and lucid. What’s worse is as a Chiropractor my confidence in the visual assessment was solid and probably rooted in my ego. Over the course of three days I fed him, bought various things and special food for kittens and the whole lot. The stool never changed so I scheduled a visit with a Vet that was for next week Monday. Today is Friday. And today he was euthanized. I woke up with him stumbling around. He had excreted the same watery stool on my bed and then became delirious. He laid down and started having pupillary dilatation which told me most likely the onset of potential shock. I rushed over to VEG and the primary doctor, Jaclyn Tuturo, confirmed most of my suspicions and that the cat was sick prior to us picking him up. Unfortunately even with thousands in preventative care to attempt to save his life, it wouldn’t have worked. I opted for the euthanasia. I have to say, I’ve had many bad moments in life and have cried so much that I could water the Amazon forest. Today, I have to say that the pain from this has stoked rage. He deserved to live a full life. He was a baby. Born into the world not knowing why or how and is now dead. I hope his spirit goes somewhere peaceful. It’s not fair to him at all and I want justice for this. I’m definitely seeking animal law enforcement to seek whoever is running this kitten mill. VEG was wonderful. The doctor did everything she could to help as well as the staff. I have to say in humility that the costs were waived because this happened in a moment where I couldn’t afford the services at the time but plan on donating once I can soon. The care was compassionate and the staff were understanding. Please be careful where you purchase your animals from and take them to the vet same day for check ups. Otherwise you may live with the guilt of ego based decisions because of presumptions of health you may not be qualified to make like me. Find a good vet and use discretion into caring for your animals.

The Vet and the Vet assistants were so kind, patient and thorough. They each listened intently and addressed all of our questions and concerned. They were also very understanding of the financial burden of the care my puppy needed and was able to provide excellent care that was affordable for us. This is our 2nd emergency visit and every time the care and attention is incredible and highly appreciated! They are doing amazing work here! I highly recommend for any pet emergencies!

Absolutely amazing, super friendly, very thorough. Super caring. Didn’t make the human feel bad either for what happened. Very patient and kind. Would 100% recommend!
